Ski & Snowboard Team 2016

Ski & Snowboard Club & Team Winter 2016 Highlights

The Ski & Snowboard Club and Team was finally treated with a season full of powder and perfect weather.  We have grown from 10 students to 65 students in the past five years. What a group!

Ski & Snowboard Club

Students really enjoyed their lessons up at Cypress Mountain this year and improved their skills dramatically. Many of the club members had never skied or snowboarded before. By the end of the season they were carving up the mountain on blue runs.

Ski & Snowboard Team

As for our team, they trained really hard for both slalom and GS terrain competitions this year which brought our female and male snowboard teams close to the provincial championships.  Way to go team!

Included below are photo highlights of the club who made weekly visits to Cypress Mountain as well as photos from the competitions for the team. Thanks to Alpha Wong for providing such great photos.

Whistler Grad Trip

There are also a few photos from the grad Whistler trip where students had a choice of skiing, snowboarding or snow tubing. Students at Bodwell have multiple chances to take part in snow sports on the mountain! It is a great benefit of going to a school in Vancouver that we live so close to such beautiful mountains that have great winter sports.

Vancouver: A Winter's Paradise!

Cypress Mountain offers wonderful day and night skiing not far from Vancouver’s centre. In fact, on clear days you can see over Vancouver’s beautiful coast and skyline. Whistler Blackcomb, on the other hand, takes about 2 hours to reach by car or bus and is the biggest ski resort in North America beating the next biggest by more than double in size.

2014-2015 Bodwell Sports RoundUp – Ski & Snowboard

Bodwell’s string of championships with the North Shore Athletic Association and the Greater Vancouver Independent School Athletic Association is a testament to the expertise of our coaches and the genuine team efforts of our student athletes. Bodwell has the benefit of a full gymnasium, indoor pool, and other close by facilities. However, the individual perspectives of our international student athletes are what add richness to the Bodwell athletic experience.

All of our athletes work on the cornerstones of teamwork and sportsmanship to ensure their own success and their teams, both on and off the field. To a Bodwell student athlete, winning is an effect of hard work, dedication, cooperation, and an open mind.

Here we give you a roundup of Bodwell’s sport teams since September 2014. This post features a look at the Bodwell ski & snowboard team.

Ski & Snowboard

The ski and snowboard team only trained two days up at Cypress Mountain for the North Shore terrain and slalom competitions up at Whistler on January 30th and February 12th. Despite the variability in snow conditions up at Whistler, the team were still able to adjust their carving technique during their races. This was the first year that Bodwell competed in the Terrain GS race and our team impressed everyone. Liliya Nesterovich placed 3rd out of 38 in the experienced girls ski category and Hiroki Udagawa placed 9th out of 30 in the experienced boys snowboard category. Liliya went on to compete in the ski provincial championships for the second year in a row!
